Projects

Hello! My name is Alexandra Grant and I am a fourth year Environmental Engineering student at the University of Florida. I am originally from Miami, FL, with origins in Peru.

From a young age I knew I wanted to be involved in climate change related projects and my position as an undergraduate researcher has granted me the opportunity to take the first step in this direction.

Looking at how coral deoxygenation occurs over time in a warming climate has allowed my mentors to gain more insight into how corals behave in high stress environments and how we might be able to prevent further mass die-offs.

My role in research has also led to professional opportunities in the realm of engineering consulting, predominantly regarding stormwater management, a pressing issue as the climate warms and sea level rises. This summer I had the opportunity to join my company on a research dive to complete a benthic survey in Biscayne Bay to measure corals and sea grass.

Research Interests:

  • Climate Resilience/Adaptation

  • Stormwater Management

  • Water Resources/Contamination
